Sew Fast/Sew Easy Strikes Yet Again!

So, there has been hoopla from Sew Fast/Sew Easy about tradmark on “Stitch ‘n Bitch” most of which got attention this spring. Then it seems they went on and targeted CafePress over the summer. Now, they’ve gotten Yahoogroups to do their dirty work!

This sucks! How is anyone going to find us if we have some generic name?

Anyone recall what became of this in regards to the Chicago group and the CafePress stuff??

  1. Well…does anyone really find us through Yahoo? I’m trying to recall. I found you through your blog and was thrilled to find a SnB close to home. Can we list ourselves as “The Group Formerly Known as StitchnBitch”? Heh.

  2. Kristi — I’m SOOOO glad you posted about this. I am the listowner of the bldr group, and got the same email today! I couldn’t even figure out what the trademark issue was!! Whatever.

  3. Albuquerque’s group has been notified too. We’ve created a new group just called SNB for the moment.

  4. Same deal for Stitch & Bitch Raleigh. They may force us to change our weblist address, but they can’t stop us from stitching and bitching, the harassers!

  5. Just testing the new format of the comments section since the upgrade. I’m sorry for the unreadable comments for the last day or so! Hopefully this will work great! Yes, even the text box is scrolling!

  6. I am the moderator of SNB Long Beach (CA) and got the same message yesterday. It’s ridiculous! SFSE SUCKS! We won’t go down without a fight.

  7. Hi. Well, I did find the Fort Collins Stitch-n-Bitch by the name. I haven’t actually visited you guys yet because I had a Spanish class at the same time as the meeting. Please tell me though, does Sew Fast/Sew Easy have ANYTHING to do with Debbie Stroller? From their website, I could not tell that they had anything to do with her book. In fact, they have a cafe called “Stitch and Bitch” which is not the same as “Stitch ‘N Bitch”. This makes me angry and I haven’t even met you guys yet!

On another note, I want to learn how to spin, but (don’t ask me why) I would rather not take a class at Lambspun. Any ideas?? Please let me know, email me at jhorsman!frii.com

    Thank you!! Jennifer

  8. I am the moderator of the group in Danbury, CT - funny thing is - I WAS (keyword) was a customer of theirs. I am going to stop at the shop and personally voice my complaints. I changed the name of my group to SnB_DanburyCT as that is what NY did. I originially thought the e-mail was a hoax and deleted it! Not a good thing - my group got deleted and now I have to start from scratch! YUK…
Anyway I want to show my face when I am in NY next week at the shop and let them know of my disapproval and what they have done - there is NOT that much of a separation of knitters/tailors/quilters/seamtresses/designers. I am going to let the Parson’s Design School and the FIT School students and teachers know what happened hear and have them ban this store from their shopping lists. I am infuriated!

  9. I was the moderator of originally named: snbwb which stood for snb western ‘burbs and I wasn’t even given the consideration by Yahoo! to take the words “stitch ‘n bitch” out of my groups description. They just deleted my group without any notice!! I am so furious. We had been on yahoo groups for about a year and had 60+ members! I want to find another place for snbwb, any suggestions??
